SEP Client crashing Explorer.exe

I need a solution

Hi,

I've just run into a new issue that is got me totally confused and any pointers will be great on how to resolve this issue.

Server is a Dell R430 with Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard edition installed. Totally fresh install followed by joining to the corporate AD Domain. I've tried to install the SEP Client and each time the SEP client causes Explorer.exe to crash. Reproducable by simply right clicking on the MyComputer icon. Explorer.exe crashes and automatically restarts. I have isolated this to the SEP client as this behaviour starts immediately after install/reboot and then disappears after client uninstall/CleanWipe/

Tried the following:

1. Installed immediately after joining domain before updates.

2. Installed after joinging domain and after full updates.

3. Used Ver 12.1.5X

4. Used Ver 12.1.6MP3

5. Tried Managed Client deploy

6. Tried Unmanaged Client installation

7. Reduced the client installation to just AntiVirus scanning without the network protection

All the same behaviour. After install, simple right click on the MyComputer icon causes Explorer.exe to crash/restart. Error is logged in Event Viewer.

Server reverts to normal after uninstall/CleanWipe of the SEP Client. Unfortunately I don't trust the OS install after SEP Client removal and have reinstalled the OS cleanly and tried something different in time with the same results. I have even gone to the extent of re-creating the RAID partition in order to fully wipe the HDD. That 8 OS reinstalls. Really frustrated.

I can't deploy the server for production use without AntiVirus and but non-sane server OS after install.

Anybody has even seen this issue? Any pointers on how to move forward and resolve this?

Thanks.

Regards,
Daniel Lee
