KB3139940 - Breaks Application - Symantec IPS

Hey Everyone, 

We use an old application that uses OLE code to launch an IE instance when a button is clicked. Well, we pushed out KB3139940 via WSUS and now the application crashes. I can revoke the update, however I am worried about remediation of the securrity flaw. Is there a way to tell if Symantec has an IPS defintion that can blockes the remote code excution attempt? Thank you!
