Hello,
I've seen several post about this error, but none seems to help in my case (most problems and solutions were for previous versions or Win2008 32-bit).
I'm running SEP 12.1.6 on a virtualized Windows 2012 R2 server and it run fine after the upgrade. After the last reboot of the server, I noticed that the service "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" doesn't start anymore. My first thought was that it's related to the Windows Updates, but uninstalling them didn't help. In the end, I restored the server to a date when it was still running (before the Windows Updates). SEP worked fine again but as soon as I reboot the server or as soon as I restart the service "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager", the service won't start anymore.
When examining the Event Log, I encountered the event
4096 semsrv - Die Java Virtual Machien wurde mit dem Code -1 beendet. Der Dienst wird angehalten (Java virtual machine ended with code -1. The service will be stopped).
And if I do a reboot instead of just restarting the service, the following other events are reported, too:
4096 secars - Fehler bei der Initialisierung der Server-Konfiguration (failure during server-configuration intitalization)
1000 Application Error - Faulting application name: httpd.exe (\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\apache\bin\httpd.exe)
As a result, logging on to the console isn't possible anymore (no connection).
Doing a repair with the SEP 12.1.6 setup also resulted in the SEP mangement console not working anymore.
I'm not aware of any server configuration change before the problem started to occur. Are there some other log files which I could examine to further track down the error?
I now went back to the last checkpoint of the virtual machine to have SEP running again. But it's no final solution because the error will occur again as soon as I reboot the server.
