GUP server shutdown before GUP role removed

I need a solution

I've run into a problem where two servers, that have been providing the GUP rule for remote offices, have been powered down and the hardware decomissioned before the GUP role was removed from the LiveUpdate policy. This has led to the servers remaining in the gloabllist.xml file and there seems to be no way to remove them now they are offline.

The same issue was reported back in 2012 and the only fix seemed to be to disable all GUP services across the network and rebuild them from scratch.

That seems excessive and for a resonable install base of 1500+ machines in 15 remote offices it puts a lot of load back onto the Endpoint server which the GUP's were deployed to help reduce.

Is there really no way to update the globallist.xml file without tearing down all of the GUP configuration and rebuilding it?
