I have an old installation of SSC 10.1 with 2 servers and several clients. When I go to the System Hierarchy on the primary server it doesn't show anything - not even a server group.
When I go to the console on the other server, I can see the server group, both servers, and several computer groups. I don't see any computers in the groups though. Also, my primary server is shown as disabled from the console on my other server.
All of my Symantec Antivirus clients have the "disabled"primary server listed as the Parent server.
I've decided to do away with the primary server since it is having many issues. If I go to the console on my secondary server, and right click on it, and choose "Make Server a Primary Server" will it be able to take over the role from my former primary server? Will the clients show up in the groups, and will they automatically see the new Primary server as their Parent server?
Also, my primary server was having problems with it's SAV client grinding it to a halt. I removed the client only (it was already showing up as disabled in the SSC console before that). If I wanted to get it back in commission, would I need to reinstall the SAV client on it? That will be my second route if switching primary server above will not work.
