Domain Name Extension

Is there anyway to append the domain name extension to the server name?  Specifically when I send out a weblink for someone to download an installer package instead of just being able to click on the link they have to add the domain name to the server name before the url will work.  e.g. server02.my.company.org:8014.  Thanks.
